ORTHODONTICS

Orthodontics is that specialty of dentistry that is responsible for correcting teeth and bones that are in poor conditions. This can cause other alterations in our body such as pain in the neck, back, shoulders, tension in the chewing muscles… among others.

The correct way to know if a patient needs orthodontic treatment is visiting a dental clinic with orthodontist. This professional must carry out an exhaustive study and diagnosis to develop an appropriate treatment plan: There are various types of techniques, either fixed or removable, applying gentle pressure to teeth and bone structures.

PREVENTIVE and INTERCEPTIVE ORTHODONTICS

Known also as EARLY ORTHODONTICS; it helps us to correct oral development both at the dental and bone level, since it takes place when the patient is growing – so we can prevent unfavorable evolution. We recommend visiting the Orthodontist and Pediatric Dentist at 6 years of age.

Within interceptive orthodontics we find both: removable and fixed appliances, that are used in both: temporary dentition or mixed dentition (temporary and permanent).

Among some examples we find:

  • Palate expander

Its main function is to widen the arch of the upper jaw to gradually widen the area of the palate.

  • Space maintainers

Used to conserve space after the premature loss of temporary teeth and thus allow us to erupt correctly.

  • Chinrest

Removable device used to correct protrusion or advancement of the jaw.

  • Apparatus

Apparatus for correcting bad habits (digital suction or lingual interposition).

Fixed orthodontics

Colloquially known as braces, and currently there are various techniques and materials that offer a wide variety of treatment plans depending on the individual needs of each patient and the aesthetic demand of themselves.

  • Metal brackets

Indicated for young and old for all kind of complications.

  • Aesthetic brackets

Indicated for young and old for all kind of complications but with transparent or ceramic brackets.

  • Sapphire aesthetic brackets

Made of non-metallic materials that allow light to pass through, being discreet.

  • Self-ligating brackets

Metallic brackets with a kind of “tab” incorporated into the brackets that functions as rubber bands.

  • Invisible orthodontics

Great star treatment in patients who demand greatest aesthetics. Performed using a series of transparent and removable splints, carried out by a computer program that shows our final smile before beginning.

  • Lingual brackets

Placed in the interior face of our teeth ensuring that they are not visible.
